Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the pattern of utilizing artificial intelligence in the authoring and optimization of university textbooks. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach using the grounded theory method. The research population consisted of university professors (in the groups of humanities, basic sciences, and technical and engineering) and subject matter experts (professors and specialists in educational technology orientations and artificial intelligence specialists who had scientific research experience), from whom 23 individuals were selected for participation in the research through purposive and criterion-based sampling. The data collection method was semi-structured interviews, and for data analysis, open, axial, and selective coding were used. To validate and ensure the validity and reliability of the research findings, the four criteria of Lincoln and Guba were used. The research results indicated twenty-two axial concepts, which according to the paradigmatic model of Strauss and Corbin (2008) were organized in the form of: the axial phenomenon of the research (behavioral factors, academic culture, new generation learning developments, and scientific developments), causal conditions, strategies, contextual factors, intervening factors, and consequences. In the end, based on the research results, it is suggested that attention be paid to the application of artificial intelligence in the processes of authoring educational books in universities by providing the groundwork in the mentioned dimensions.
